Pennsylvania: Immediately stopping the blood of the injured after firing, accidents and explosions etc. can guarantee life. In this regard, American experts have created an unusual bandage on which very fine needles are placed, which immediately stop bleeding by coagulating the blood.

Dr. Amir Sheikhi and his team from Pennsylvania State University’s Department of Biological Engineering have developed a working model of this. They have published details of their innovation in Bioectomaterials. Interestingly, due to its importance, this research has been published on the cover of the journal.

According to Aamir, lives can be saved by stopping the excessive flow of human blood. They have dubbed it ‘hemostatic microneedle technology’ which can be applied to any adhesive medical bandage. It has self-dissolving microscopic needle-like protrusions. When they are absorbed by human skin, they increase the formation of blood clots. Then these needles come closer and help to close the wound.

When it was tested under normal conditions, the results were surprising. It reduced the blood clotting time from 11.5 minutes to 1.3 minutes which is a significant achievement. In this way the blood flow can be reduced by 90%. According to Dr. Sheikhi, this is an unusual time that can be very important to save human life.

According to experts, it could be used in place of hydrogel technology that is being used to stop blood flow in hospitals worldwide. However, this innovation by Aamir Sheikhi is very welcome but the process is also much less painful.
