NEW DELHI: India’s Russian oil imports hit a record 1.4 million barrels per day in January, up 9.2 percent from December.
According to the news agency, India imports the most oil from Russia, followed by Iraq.
According to data from Saudi Arabian trade sources, India imported 5 million bpd of crude oil last month, of which about 27 percent was from Russian oil.
The report noted that India’s oil imports typically increase in December and January as state-run refiners stop importing after meeting their annual production targets set by the government.
India imported cheap edible oil from Russia and Ukraine
According to the report, India has bought the most oil from Russia since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Not only that, India also bought sunflower oil from Ukraine last month.
India emerged as the fifth largest supplier in January after Canada and the United Arab Emirates, the data showed.
During the first ten months of this fiscal year, from April to January, Iraq remained the largest supplier of oil to India, while Russia became the second largest supplier, replacing Saudi Arabia, which is now in third place. is on
