The term of the Assembly will be reduced from five years to four years and the term of the Senate will be reduced from six years to five years, Barrister Gauhar said.
Islamabad: Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gauhar has presented the election manifesto for Election 2024.
Gohar Ali Khan while holding a press conference in Islamabad said that in the cipher case Islamabad High Court had given directions as to how the case will proceed, the judges of the special court are conducting the trial proceedings by ignoring these instructions.
He said that it is a violation of the constitution, in such a case which carries the death penalty, it is against the law not to allow the accused to have a lawyer of his choice, they are not being given the opportunity to defend themselves and to cross-examine the other party.
Barrister Gohar said that there are many illegal cases going on in our jail on a daily basis, continuous trials are taking place from 8 am to 4 pm, why is there such a rush, Imran Khan’s lawyers are appointed in the cipher case. However, the judge is in such a hurry that he appointed a lawyer for Imran Khan against his will.
Chairman PTI said that appointing a lawyer against the will of an accused is a violation of the constitution, which we strongly condemn. , this time the appointed lawyers have already appeared on behalf of the prosecution, we consider this procedure against the fundamental rights.
Election Manifesto
Barrister Gauhar said that the process of election has started, we were asking for election in 90 days, we have not been given a level playing field, we have not been given permission wherever our candidates want to rally.
There was an instruction from the founder PTI that everyone should take out a rally today, we condemn the rallies that were stopped today, we are the largest political party in the country and we are not allowed to campaign, our party and Attempts are being made to wall the candidates, one country cannot have two laws.
On this occasion, Barrister Gohar Ali presented the election manifesto and said that we will come to power and make constitutional amendments, under which the prime minister will be directly elected by the people, and the term of the assembly will be reduced from five years to four years.
He said that although our candidates are contesting independent elections, they are not independent but with the party, glorious Pakistan, glorious future and getting rid of bad past is our new manifesto.
He said that Tehreek-e-Insaf will establish another Truth Reconciliation Commission after coming to power, our manifesto is one nation, one law, all will be equal, there cannot be two laws in one country, we insist on rule of law, criminal Be it civil or some of our laws are outdated, we will bring changes in the criminal laws to protect the fundamental rights of the people, we will bring constitutional amendments under the new Pakistan and new system of investigation.
Chairman PTI further said that by making constitutional amendments, the Prime Minister will be directly elected by the people, the term of the Assembly will be reduced from five years to four years, the term of the Senate will be reduced from six years to five years. Fifty percent of the Senate will be elected directly by the people.
