The PCB Election Commissioner has four weeks to elect the Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
According to Article 7 Clause 2 of the PCB Constitution, the Election Commissioner has 4 weeks to conduct the elections.
The constitution of the cricket board says that the elected chairman must take charge within a week after the election.
The Prime Minister notified the acceptance of the resignation of Zaka Ashraf on January 22. With the acceptance of the resignation, the powers of the chairman have been constitutionally transferred to Election Commissioner Shah Khawar.
The first task for Shah Khawar as Acting Chairman is the formation of the Board of Governors (BOGs).
In BOGs, the Prime Minister has nominated caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab Mohsin Naqvi, Mohsin Naqvi is the strong candidate for the chairmanship.
Mohsin Naqvi has an opportunity to complete the responsibility of caretaker chief minister before going to PCB elections.
The general elections in the country will be held on February 8, the four weeks of the PCB acting chairman will be completed on February 22. Due to ICC rules, Mohsin Naqvi will have to leave the official post before becoming the chairman.
Mohsin Naqvi will be able to retire from all government duties by the end of February.
