America is determined to highlight the importance of Balochistan's cultural heritage, Donald Bloom

US Ambassador to Pakistan Donald Bloom and Caretaker Chief Minister of Balochistan Ali Mardan Khan Domki launched the first project of the US Fund for the Restoration of Historical and Cultural Heritage in Balochistan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, American Ambassador Donald Bloom said, “This effort from the beginning of this project reflects that the United States values ​​the cultural heritage of Balochistan and highlighting its historical importance is proof of our determination.”

He said that the US government has spent more than 8 million dollars for 33 projects related to cultural heritage across Pakistan. The mentioned projects include the restoration of the tombs of Sultan Ibrahim and Amir Sultan Muhammad located in the historic cemetery of Makli, a UNESCO World Heritage site, at Veran Deomandar, Friar Hall, Nasrwanji Building in Sindh province.

The inauguration ceremony of the project was attended by the US Consul General in Karachi, Conrad Trouble, senior officials of Balochistan Government’s Department of Culture, Dr. Kaleemullah Lashari, co-founder of SEZ and Dr. Asma Ibrahim.

The event highlighted the history of Mehrgarh and Mehrgarh Museum of Balochistan.

Mehrgarh Museum of Balochistan was established in September 2022, which provides an insight into the early history of the region. Mehrgarh’s artefacts have also gained international recognition, being exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and the Musee Gamme in Paris.

The exhibits at the New York museum highlight the importance of Pakistan’s archeology around the world.

Funding from the US grant under the project will improve the renovation of the museum and the training of Balochistan Directorate of Archeology staff and increase their outreach to the population.

This AFCP project has been implemented in collaboration with the Department of Culture, Government of Balochistan and the Sindh Exploration and Adventure Society, while this project will support efforts to preserve the cultural landscape of the region.

The United States has allocated more than three hundred and twenty thousand dollars for this historical project, through which the Mehrgarh Museum of Balochistan, located in Quetta, will be further improved in addition to the protection of the monuments of the Neolithic period of Mehrgarh civilization and other historical artifacts. will be used to make
