Lahore: In Chakwal, 2 wildlife officials were injured in firing by a group of illegal pheasant hunters.
According to the details, a wildlife officer and a head wildlife watcher were injured as a result of the firing, while the hunters escaped while firing, but an FIR has been registered in Neela police station regarding the incident.
Under the leadership of Assistant Director Wildlife District Chakwal Adnan Ali, Head Wildlife Watcher Abdul Wahab, Hamid Anees and Driver Muhammad Jameel, during routine patrol, chased a hunting party engaged in illegal pheasant hunting with 12 bore guns in the area of Mouz Latifal Tehsil and District Chakwal. When they tried to recover guns, cartridges, knives, hunted wild birds from them, the poachers opened fire on the wildlife staff.
As a result of the firing, Head Wildlife Watcher Abdul Wahab was seriously injured while Assistant Director Wildlife Adnan Ali received multiple bullet wounds on his legs and stomach. The injured Head Wildlife Watcher Abdul Wahab has been admitted to District Headquarters Hospital Chakwal.
