Rawalpindi: 6 dacoits were killed in 2 police encounters in the twin cities of the capital within a few hours.
Among those killed are 4 robbers who killed a British citizen of Pakistani origin for resisting during the incident. The accused used to commit crimes in police uniform.
According to the police, 6 accused were killed in 2 different encounters in the limits of Thana Morgah and Thana Race Course. Late at night, the accused opened fire on the police party in the race course area of the police station. In the retaliatory fire, 4 dacoits were killed, who have been identified as Sajid alias Gutto, Hassan, Muhammad Ali alias Babio and Waseem.
When the police tried to stop the motorcycle-riding dacoits, they started firing. The accused shot dead Mahmood on his return from UK in the race course area. Laptop, bag and weapons used in the incidents were recovered from the possession of the accused.
According to preliminary investigation, police uniforms have also been recovered from the accused. This dacoit gang used to wear police uniform during the looting incidents.
The accused also committed an act with a citizen from Canada. The accused used to do racketeering at the airport and target citizens coming from abroad. Inter-provincial gang members used to commit crimes in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and other areas. The gang was booked in several incidents in different districts. The accused were arrested and challaned from Cantt police station area.
The second police encounter took place in the Morgah police station area where 4 accused on a motorcycle fired at the police, in the retaliatory fire 2 accused were killed while 2 escaped.
The deceased accused Ahmed Khan and his accomplice were highly wanted in street crime incidents. A few days ago, the accused had injured Police ASI Shoaib by firing. The dead bodies of the accused have been shifted to the hospital for post-mortem.
