State bodies don't believe in courts that's why people are being picked up, Islamabad High Court

The government should have faith in the judicial system, the court

The Islamabad High Court has said that the state institutions do not judge the courts, that’s why people are being picked up.

Iman Mazari’s application regarding the recovery of Baloch students was heard in the Islamabad High Court. Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani remarked that state institutions should have faith in supremacy of law. State institutions do not believe in courts, so people are being picked up.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said that there will be no enforced disappearance on the day when this cycle is reversed. The state has nothing to fear. The state has to deal with everyone. The concept of missing persons is only in our country, not in other countries.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar said in his remarks that the people of the agencies must be prosecuted. The trial lasts three to three years. The state provides protection to institutions. The state can do everything.

Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan told the court that petitioner Iman Mazari provided the list of missing Baloch students. Of the missing students, 9 have been recovered while efforts are on to recover 15.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani said in a dialogue with the Attorney General that according to him 15 Baloch students are missing. The highest office has to give an affidavit that there will be no further enforced disappearances, to which the Attorney General said that the federal government has given a statement in the Supreme Court that there will be no enforced disappearances.

Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani inquired that if the federal government gave this affidavit, was the federal government involved in forced disappearances? The Attorney General replied that the federal government has given an affidavit for now and for the future. The government should have confidence in the judicial system. The notion of oneself being above the law must end. Do not do anything today, but the time will come when action will be taken against the state institutions.
