Karachi: In the same day, there were two incidents of fires in jhagis in Shahr Quaid, in which dozens of jhagis were burnt to ashes, but there was no loss of life.

After the incident of fire in jhagis under the three Hatti bridge last night, the fire brigade staff with the help of 6 fire tenders fought for 3 hours on the fire that broke out in the jhagis at the back of Bakra Pedi Anwar Baloch Hotel in Malir City area on Thursday night. The water corporation also continued to supply water through water tankers until the fire was extinguished.

As a result of the fire, 4 people, including women, were burnt and injured, while more than 30 bags and valuables kept in them, many motorcycles, bicycles and bicycles got completely burnt.

According to the spokesperson of the fire brigade, the report of the fire was received at 12:19 on Thursday night, after which three fire tenders were initially sent to the spot, but considering the intensity of the fire, three more fire tenders were sent to the spot while The water corporation was also informed so that water supply could continue.

He said that due to the wrong parking of the government ambulances in the narrow streets, the fire brigade vehicles had to face serious difficulties in reaching the affected place. The cooling process was continued till As a result of the fire, 30-year-old Sridevi, her husband Sikandar Azam, 35-year-old son of Munshi, 45-year-old Resham, wife of Lal Das and 25-year-old Raja, son of Dit Naran, were injured, where they were transferred to the Burns Ward of the Civil Hospital. The condition of the injured king is critical, while the condition of the other injured is out of danger.

The victims said that most of them belong to Sukkur, Ghotki, Dharki and its surrounding areas. About 15 years ago, when floods wreaked havoc in Sindh, those people came to Karachi with the help of the Sindh government and settled in the camps set up by the government in the area. Later, they started doing various jobs in Karachi. Most of the people did glass burning, old clothes, balloons, vegetables and other jobs and settled in the same area by pitching jhagis.

Around 12 o’clock on Thursday night, there was a sudden commotion in the population and there was a stampede, fire was visible everywhere. People picked up their children and ran for their lives, while people from nearby residential areas rushed to help. At the same time, fire brigade, police, rangers and rescue ambulances also reached in large numbers. Naib Nazim Karachi Abdullah Murad Baloch and his team also reached the spot and participated in relief work.

The victims said that when they went back after the fire was extinguished, there was an empty field, the tents and all the belongings had been burnt to ashes. A person named Naseer said that he kept Rs 230,000 and his daughter’s dowry in his house, which were all burnt. Apart from this, dozens of motorcycles, rickshaws, bicycles and rickshaws were completely burnt in about 30 Jhagis.

The victims have appealed to the government to help us in the severe cold weather. It should be noted that there was a fire in this settlement last year as well, in which more than 50 houses were burnt along with their goods.
