Appeals against rejection of nomination papers of Sabtain Khan, Ejazul Haq accepted

For the first time, the Election Tribunal is seeing nomination papers being rejected on trivial matters

Islamabad: The hearing of appeals against the rejection of nomination papers of the candidates in the Election Tribunal is still going on today.

The appeals of PTI founder Imran Khan and Tehreek-e-Insaf President Pervez Elahi will also be heard today.

The Election Tribunal in Rawalpindi passed an important decision and accepted the appeal of Speaker Punjab Assembly Sabtain Khan.

The tribunal annulled the decision of the returning officer to reject the nomination papers and allowed Sabatin Khan to contest the election from the provincial constituency PP 88 Mianwali.

The appeal of NA-55 former minister Ejaz-ul-Haq was also approved. The Election Tribunal said that for the first time nomination papers are being rejected on trivial matters.

Fawad Chaudhry’s uncle Chaudhry Shahbaz Hussain’s appeal against the rejection of papers from Jhelum was rejected and the decision of the returning officer’s disqualification was upheld. There were objections against him for not disclosing assets.

The Election Appellate Tribunal of the Islamabad High Court has issued notices to the Election Commission on 51 appeals including PTI’s Ilyas Mehrban, Aamir Mughal, Shiraz Kayani, Zubair Farooq and sought their response by tomorrow.
