Auckland: New Zealand experts have said in reference to their research in the international scientific journal that a drug used in cancer can also extend the life span.
The study was conducted by the University of Auckland in which healthy middle-aged mice were given a cancer drug. With this drug, the average lifespan of these mice was increased by ten percent, which is equal to three years. Mahri divided the rats into two groups and both were given the same diet. However, one group was given a drug called ‘Elpilisab’.
The mice that were fed this drug not only lived longer than other mice, but their muscles remained strong in old age and a stronger connection between the mind and body was observed. Although research done on mice has proved useful for us humans, more research is currently needed to reveal its human implications.
According to scientists, one thing is certain that the common cancer drug also reduces other negative effects of aging which is a welcome development. ‘Alpilicib’ actually affects an enzyme (enzyme) PL-3 kinase.
