Pakistan Cyber ​​Security Hackathon Competition, Winning Teams Get Lakhs of Rs

Hackathon organized cyber security trainings and competitions by Ignite Fund.

Islamabad: Caretaker Minister for Information Technology Dr. Umar Saif has said that a separate organization based on required equipment and expertise has been established for action against cybercrime.

Ignite Digital Pakistan Cyber ​​Security Hackathon was held in Islamabad, where cyber security trainings and competitions were organized by Ignite Fund.

A month-long workshop was conducted for students in seven major cities, followed by competitions between female and male cyber teams on December 25 and 26.

21 teams from Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar, Quetta and Multan participated in the cyber security competition. Six teams from Islamabad and three teams from other cities participated in the grand competitions. Caretaker IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif and other important personalities participated in the event.

The Caretaker IT Minister while addressing the prize distribution ceremony of Digital Pakistan Cyber ​​Security Hackathon 2023 said that a separate organization based on required equipment and expertise has been established for action against cybercrime, powers from FIA Cybercrime are now National Cybercrime Investigation Transferring to the agency.

The IT Minister said that the protection of Pakistan’s cyberspace, online data of citizens, online buying and selling is essential, effective action against cybercrime, cyberbullying and criminals is our responsibility, the first national cyber emergency in Pakistan. A response team (National Certs) has also been established.

Dr. Umar Saif said that the government of Pakistan has built the entire infrastructure under an effective strategy against cybercrimes.

The event was organized under the National Technology Fund (Ignite), an institution of the Ministry of IT. The aim of the event is to raise awareness and bring out new talent regarding cyber security in Pakistan.

21 teams were selected from Karachi, Lahore, Quetta, Peshawar, Multan and Islamabad. After the competition in 60 cities of the country, 3 teams were declared entitled to the prizes in the grand finale. The winning teams were awarded first prize of Rs.15 lakh, second prize of Rs.10 lakh and third prize of Rs.5 lakh.
