Peshawar: The court ordered the government to release the passport of Speaker Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Mushtaq Ghani.
Justice Kamran Hayat Miyankhil of Peshawar High Court heard the petition filed by Speaker Provincial Assembly Mushtaq Ghani for passport renewal, in which the court ordered the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Passport Office to issue the passport to the petitioner.
Advocate Ali Azim Afridi, while giving arguments in the court, said that the petitioner is the Speaker of the Provincial Assembly, has applied for a passport, but the passport is not being issued to him. We have also submitted the urgent passport fee, but still the passport is not being issued.
The court inquired as to where the petitioner is, to which the counsel stated that the petitioner is in London, his name is on the ECL and the passport has expired. If the passport is issued, the applicant will return. The counsel requested that the petitioner be granted interim bail so that he is not arrested on his return.
During the hearing, Additional Advocate General told the court that the petitioner is already on interim bail till December 27. The court remarked that the petitioner was not present in the court, he should come when he returns. The court adjourned the hearing ordering the Federal Ministry of Interior and the Passport Office to issue the passport to the petitioner.
