Government efforts to control air pollution in Lahore have failed, the air quality index has increased instead of decreasing which is extremely harmful to human health.
The air quality index in the city has crossed 400.
Green Fort 2 Lahore Canal had AQI of 336 yesterday before artificial rain and today recorded 366 Air Quality Index. The air quality index in Punjab University Lahore College of Earth and Environmental Sciences increased from 268 to 275. Similarly, Shimla Hills has recorded an Air Quality Index of 437.
For the first time artificial rainfall was experimented by the Punjab government to reduce pollution, which did not bring out any better effects.
According to experts, the effects of artificial rain are being seen less due to weak rain clouds.
The team of experts reached the height of 6 to 12 thousand feet in the sky on the plane, the water-bearing clouds were also sprayed with fire, but the rain was very less.
According to Chief Metrologist Muhammad Aslam, due to the weak cloud system, there was not much rain despite spraying and firing rockets in the air. The weather will be cold and dry.
According to Deputy Commissioner Lahore Rafia Haider, using existing resources regarding anti-smog, Department of Environmental Protection, District Administration, Baldia Uzmi LWMC and Traffic Police are engaged in operations against polluters on a daily basis.
