Islamabad: After the important meeting between the Chief Justice of Pakistan and the Chief Election Commissioner, the Election Commission challenged the decision of the Lahore High Court in the Supreme Court, which has been appointed for hearing by a three-member bench.
Following a petition filed by the Election Commission of Pakistan, the Supreme Court constituted a three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faiz Isa, Justice Tariq Masood, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
According to the details, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja met Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Qazi Faiz Isa. In which Justice Sardar Tariq Masood and Justice Ejaz Ul Ahsan were present.

In the meeting, the Chief Election Commissioner expressed reservations about the decision of the Lahore High Court and informed about challenging the decision.

To ensure timely holding of general elections on February 8, 2024, Muslim League (N) has decided to approach the Lahore High Court. While the legal team of Muslim League (N) started preparing the petition.
After an emergency meeting chaired by Chaudhry Shujaat, Pakistan Muslim League-Q has decided to become a party in the case of District Returning Officer and Returning Officer being judicial or civil in view of the decision of Lahore High Court.
Balochistan Awami Party has decided to become a party in the general election case, BAP chief Khalid Magsi has directed the legal team to file a petition. On the direction of the party chief, the legal team is preparing the request to be made a party in the case.
It should be noted that on the request of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, the single bench of the Lahore High Court suspended the notification of the Election Commission to conduct the general elections by the executive and recommended the formation of a larger bench on the petitions, after which the Lahore High Court today ordered the general election. A larger bench has been constituted on a petition against the services of the bureaucracy for elections.
