Karachi;  Arjeshopping mall fire investigation report compiled, building owner held responsible

The fire in the shopping mall started from sparking electrical wires and spread due to poor quality electrical and fall ceiling installations.

Karachi: After 18 days of the horrific fire incident that took place in the shopping mall on Rashid Minhas Road, the investigation committee compiled its report.

The report stated that the fire in the shopping mall started due to sparking electrical wires and the fire spread due to poor quality electrical and false ceiling installations. The fire broke out in the cafeteria on the fourth floor.

Due to the lack of fire exit and equipment to deal with riots in the shopping mall, there was a lot of damage, the builder did not get the certificate of completion of the construction in the building.

Faisal Cantonment Board also did not assure the completion of the building and the presence of fire safety system, the lift on the fourth floor of the building was sealed for better air conditioning. As per the rules, there was no automatic fire safety system in the building.

The building owner, management, AI Foundation is responsible for the damage caused by the fire in the building, the report recommends legal action against the owner, management, A&I Foundation of the shopping mall.

According to the report, the builder handed over the building to the vendors without obtaining the completion certificate.

In the report, compensation was recommended to those injured and killed in the accident as per the law.

According to police sources, DIG East Ghulam Azfar Mahesar has sent the investigation report to Additional IG Karachi.

It should be noted that on November 25, 11 people were burnt to death in a terrible fire incident in RJ Shopping Mall.
