In the first phase, the 101-feet high and 72-feet diameter dome of Mazar-e-Quaid was washed with water by 25 horsepower boosters. Along with the tomb of Mazar-e-Quaid, its walls were also washed away. Earlier, the polishing of the dome and the repair of the marble joints, which were chipped due to the constant sun, were completed.

The process of carving plants and trees at the shrine is also going on. There are 16,000 trees of different types including Mazarpurneem, Pipal, Jatropha, Juniper, etc. About 10,000 new trees have been planted at Mazar-e-Quaid in 12 years to protect the white marble of Mazar-e-Quaid from carbon dioxide and extreme heat.

According to Aleem Sheikh, Resident Engineer of Mazar-e-Quaid, the dome of Mazar-e-Quaid is washed twice on August 14 and December 25, while other renovation and repair work continues throughout the year. He says that another important purpose of growing trees at Mazar-e-Quaid was to protect the shrine from climatic effects.

Aleem Sheikh said that the busy roads of the city are running all around the shrine, due to which, due to the large amount of carbon dioxide, the white shiny marble of the shrine would have been stained or stuck to it. This move has yielded significant results as the weather in the shrine of the founder of Pakistan is largely moderate due to the presence of a large number of trees.
