South Africa: After the ravages of Covid-19, there is now a new epidemic in the form of the Marburg virus. Due to this, 9 people have been confirmed dead in Equatorial (Equatorial) Guinea so far.
All these people had attended a funeral in the neighboring country of Cameroon. According to the WHO, its infection spreads very quickly and this is the reason why 200 people in Equatorial Guinea were immediately quarantined, while the transportation of thousands of people has been restricted.
A few people in Kai Tem province were reported to have relapsing fever last week. In this regard, the country’s institutions took immediate action and emergency tests were carried out, and the Marburg virus was confirmed. So far 9 people have died from this new virus and another 16 suspected cases are being monitored.
It should be noted that Marburg virus infects humans and primates and causes fatal regurgitation fever with a fatality rate of up to 88%. It first appeared in 1967. It first appeared in the German city of Marburg and was named accordingly. After that, it spread to more countries in Europe and disappeared from the scene for some time.
Its symptoms include hemorrhagic fever, blood in vomit, cholera-like conditions and severe weakness. On the other hand, the local officials of the World Health Organization have increased their activities in the region.
