Rain continues intermittently in the provincial capital

Lahore: The low-lying areas of the city were flooded due to torrential rain in the provincial capital.

The heavy rain that started in Lahore last night continued till this morning, due to which water accumulated in many places while the low-lying areas were submerged, after which WASA and district administration teams are engaged in drainage.

As a result of continuous rain for several hours, water accumulated in Johar Town, Gulberg, Garden Town. Apart from this, water is standing in many places in Lakshmi Chowk, Gwalmandi, Akbari Mandi, while rain water has entered the houses in Gulshan Ravi Rustam Park.

After the rain, the district administration and WASA teams have been mobilized in the field.

On the other hand, the meteorological department has predicted intermittent rain throughout the day. According to the data, the highest rainfall in Lahore was recorded at Lakshmi Chowk, 97 mm. Gulshan Ravi 83 Cordoba Chowk 80 while Johar Town recorded 67 mm of rain. The rain started late at night and continued intermittently during the day. Due to some light and some heavy rain, water stood in the highways and streets.

Meanwhile, a tree fell on the side of the Gulzar underpass, causing problems in the flow of traffic.

Apart from this, electricity supply was stopped from 100 feeders in Lesko region due to rain. Meanwhile, 40 feeders were closed in Sheikhupura, Nankana, Qasor, Okara area. 60 feeders were closed in the provincial capital Lahore, due to which the citizens are facing difficulties.
