Rawalpindi: ANF, while conducting operations at Karachi port, recovered non-customs-paid goods worth one and a half billion rupees from the container, which include laptops, tablets, gutka pan masala, oil used in airplanes and chemicals.
According to Express News, the ANF Port Control Unit team has conducted a major operation at the Karachi International Container Terminal (KICT) in which an attempt to smuggle oil used in aircraft and large quantities of expensive electronic items has been foiled. The value of these items brought here from abroad is more than one and a half billion rupees.
Spokesman ANF (Anti-Narcotics Force) ANF team searched a container on the suspicion of drug smuggling. Non-customs paid goods were being smuggled into Pakistan under the guise of household items and commodities.
Laptops, electronic cigarettes, watches, hard drives, tablets and gutka paan masala have been recovered from the container. More than 550 bottles of oil and chemicals used in ships have also been recovered from the container.
The said container including non-custom goods has been handed over to the customs authorities for further legal action.
