Governor Sindh approved the Local Government (Third Amendment) Bill 2023

Karachi: Governor Sindh Kamran Khan Tesori approved the Sindh Local Government (Third Amendment) Bill 2023.

The Bill contains legislation to amend the Local Government Act 2013.

According to the amendment, the word inspector will be added to sub-section 3 of section 132 of the Act and the inspectors appointed under the sub-sections of section 136 will have the power to impose a fine up to 50 thousand rupees.

Inspectors will be empowered to file a case in the concerned court for repeated commission of the same offense by the same person, the concerned court will be empowered to impose a fine up to 5 lakh rupees and imprisonment up to three years or both.

Cases under this Act must be tried within a period of 30 days.
