Tehran: A minibus carrying mountain climbers fell into a ravine in Iran, killing 10 and injuring 8.
According to the Iranian media, the spokesman of the provincial emergency services, Vahid Shadiniya, said that the accident happened near the city of Varzghan in the province of East Azerbaijan.
He said the minibus was on its way to a tourist village in the hilly area when it overturned for unknown reasons and fell into a ditch.
The spokesman said that 10 people including the driver were killed and eight were injured in the accident. He said that the passengers were not wearing seat belts, if they had worn seat belts, the number of victims would have been less.
It should be noted that despite the roads being in good condition, the death rate in traffic accidents in Iran is quite high due to poor driving precautions and international restrictions on vehicle inspection.
