Massachusetts, USA: Although the Sun is the hottest object in our solar system, its temperature is still very low compared to many other cosmic bodies. Then the question arises, which is the hottest place in the universe?
Daniel Palumbo, a postdoctoral fellow at the Black Hole Initiative, a research group at Harvard University, said the hottest place in the universe known so far is very close to a supermassive black hole.
The hottest spot in the universe so far on record is quasar 3C273, a glowing region around a supermassive black hole about 2.4 billion light-years from Earth, Palumbo said. According to the Greenbank Observatory in West Virginia, the core temperature of this region is about 10 trillion Kelvin (more than 10 trillion degrees Fahrenheit and Celsius). However, there is still uncertainty surrounding this temperature estimate.
He also said that it is a supermassive black hole which is increasing in its volume, meaning that this black hole is continuously absorbing gas into itself. This black hole pushes matter out at a speed faster than the speed of light, causing the temperature of the location to become hotter than expected.
