Lahore: The caretaker government’s move to transfer officers and assistant commissioners across Punjab was challenged in the Lahore High Court.
According to Express News, in the petition filed in the Lahore High Court, the Government of Punjab, the Chief Minister of Punjab and the Election Commission have been made parties, in which it has been said that the caretaker government has taken illegal steps and exchanged officers and assistant commissioners across Punjab. The government has no constitutional and legal authority to appoint and transfer.
The petitioner said that the task of the caretaker government is to provide support to the Election Commission to conduct elections, according to the law, the officers on the tenure post cannot be transferred until the term of office is completed. There are difficulties.
It has been held that the caretaker government took illegal action by transferring the officers for political interests, the court should quash the notification of transfer of officers and assistant commissioners.
