Military Trial of Civilian;  6 Assurances to the Supreme Court by the Govt

Islamabad: The Supreme Court issued a written order for today’s hearing of the case against the trial of civilians in military courts.

The order states that the Attorney General has given six assurances to the Supreme Court while arguing against the petitions filed against the military courts.

The order states that the Attorney General has assured that during the investigation, there is no charge of death sentence or life imprisonment against the suspects detained in Badi-Nazar.

If a trial starts against an accused, the court will be informed in advance. The Attorney General assured that the detained accused will be allowed to have a lawyer of their own choice.

According to the order, the Attorney General assured that the evidence against the accused in the military courts will be recorded in accordance with the law applicable to the ordinary criminal courts.

According to the order, the Attorney General sought time to seek instructions from the federal government for the right to appeal against the decisions of the military courts. The next hearing of the case will be on August 1.
