Amended SRO on sale of vehicles used by foreign diplomats


The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued an amended SRO on the sale of vehicles used by foreign diplomats.

According to FBR’s amended Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO), foreign diplomats will be exempted from paying duty on vehicles after 2 years of use.

The Federal Board of Revenue says that a special category has been created for the sale of vehicles of foreign diplomats, 100% duty will be charged on vehicles sold before 2 years, duty on vehicles sold before 2 years is foreign currency. will be at market value.

The FBR says that a diplomat must take permission from the Foreign Office to sell his car, only the Secretary of the Foreign Office can give permission to sell a car to a foreign diplomat.

FBR Releases SRO on Temporary Import of Vehicles

It may be noted that in May, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) issued an amended Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO) on temporary importation of vehicles.

The FBR notification said that the definition of ‘tourist’ has been updated under the new rules.

Pakistan Customs will monitor information related to temporary importation of vehicles through a computerized system, Customs officials will maintain close contact with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in this regard.

Passports of tourists temporarily importing vehicles will be attached to the car documents.

The statement said that this step has been taken to prevent misuse of temporary importation of vehicles.
