Paris: Following the killing of an Algerian teenager by police in France, the United Nations human rights office urged France to dismantle racially discriminatory practices in its security agencies.
According to international media reports, Rowena Shamdasani, spokesperson of the United Nations Human Rights Office, said in a press briefing in Geneva that we are concerned about the death of a 17-year-old North African (Algerian) youth by the police in France.
He said it was high time for France to seriously address the deep-seated problems of racism and discrimination in law enforcement.
It should be noted that earlier, in numerous statements issued by international rights organizations such as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch, the French government has been called upon to change the discriminatory, especially racial, profiling method during the identification of citizens.
