New Jersey: Several lawsuits have been filed against US pharmaceutical company Merck for concealing the dangerous effects of its asthma drug Singuliar on the brain.
According to global media reports, since the company introduced the drug in 1998, dozens of suicides, depression and panic attacks have been reported in affected patients.
(Nicholas, a 22-year-old resident of England, had been using Singoliar for a few weeks before committing suicide by shooting himself in the head.)
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) analyzed multiple reports of serious adverse drug reactions in patients between 1998 and 2019 and found that there were 82 suicides associated with a specific active ingredient in Singoliar, including 19 cases. For children under 17 years of age.
