Murtaza Wahab of PPP was elected Mayor of Karachi

Karachi: The election process for the mayor of Shahr Quaid has been completed, in which Murtaza Wahab of the People’s Party has been elected as the mayor, while Abdullah Murad has been elected as the deputy mayor of Karachi, whose success was announced by the returning officer.

According to the unofficial unofficial results, Murtaza Wahab got 173 votes while Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Hafiz Naeemur Rahman got 161 votes. It should be noted that 33 PTI members were absent during the voting process.

The auditorium of the Arts Council was declared as a polling station by the Election Commission, where the arrival of members for voting continued from 9 am and the doors of the auditorium were closed after more than 300 members reached the polling station at different times. . Sources say that 33 PTI members are absent. A large number of political party workers were present outside the polling station, raising slogans.

A show of hands was conducted for Murtaza Wahab, the PPP’s mayoral candidate for Karachi, after which those who voted for him were counted and registered. Later, the voting process for Hafiz Naeemur Rahman was completed. During the voting, videos of PTI members were released on social media, in which they said they were barred from entering to vote.

Meanwhile, polling for Deputy Mayor will be held after the completion of the election phase of Mayor Karachi and PPP candidate Abdullah Murad was elected with 173 votes.

Returning Officer Nazar Abbas talks to the media

Talking to the media, Returning Officer Nazar Abbas said that it was an important day, the mayor and deputy mayor were elected, I thank all the parties for showing patience, all the candidates conducted the voting process in a pleasant atmosphere.

He said that Murtaza Wahab got 173 votes and was declared successful in the mayor’s seat, while Hafiz Naeem was second with 160 votes. Similarly, People’s Party Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad also got 173 votes and became the winner, while Jamaat-e-Islami’s Saifur Rahman also got 160 votes.

He said that 32 members were absent during the voting, out of which 31 belonged to PTI and 1 belonged to TLP, while Firdous Shamim Naqvi, despite being present, did not cast his vote.

The returning officer announced the success of the mayor and deputy mayor

The returning officer issued the announcement of the success of the mayor and deputy mayor, according to which Murtaza Wahab Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad of PPP has been elected as the deputy mayor.

The official notification of the success of the mayor and deputy mayor will be issued by the Election Commission on Friday, after which the mayor and deputy mayor will take oath of office on June 19.

On the other hand, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir and candidate for Mayor of Karachi Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman has rejected the results of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor and said that we reserve the right to protest and take legal action, we have no fight with Murtaza Wahab or PPP, however this There is a fight against the system and we will continue to fight against it.

He said that we reject the election and results of the mayor and deputy mayor because our members were forcibly detained and deprived of their right to vote.

Provincial Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that Jamaat-e-Islami should now accept its defeat and move forward, the representatives of Pakistan People’s Party will solve the problems of every street and neighborhood without color or caste.

Mayor and Deputy Mayor of PPP elected unopposed in Hyderabad

In Hyderabad, the second largest city of Sindh, Kashif Shuro of the Pakistan People’s Party was elected as the Mayor of Hyderabad and Sagheer Qureshi was elected as the Deputy Mayor unopposed.
