It has also been revealed that the network of CCTV cameras in the hospital is poor, cameras have been installed only in the accident department and intensive care wards of Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, CCTV cameras in many wards of the hospital and especially in the parking area. Hospital sources say that drug addicts often enter the hospital at night and steal hospital items and administer drugs with the money obtained, patients and their families who come to the hospital for treatment. They are also losing their valuables.

Day in and day out, motorcycles and rickshaws of people coming to the hospital disappear from the parking area, which is becoming a big problem for the staff, copper taps installed in the hospital and AC outers are being stolen. Regarding the installation of CCTV cameras, the hospital administration has requested the authorities of the Uzma Municipality of Karachi.

When contacted by Express, Medical Superintendent of the hospital Naseem Ahmed confirmed that thefts are happening in the hospital, we are trying our best to stop them but due to lack of resources it is not possible. He said that KMC has been giving an average of 10 to 12 percent of the budget to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for the last ten years.

He said that in the hospital, we are managing patients’ medicines, diagnostic tests and other treatments with Zakat money, the MRI and CT scan machines in the hospital are inactive, while the X-ray machines do not produce films, the doctor takes pictures from his mobile phone. In our hospital, doctors are doing 12 to 15 hour shifts, but they neither have the facility of canteen or washroom.

Naseem Ahmed Hospital has water lines installed in 1973 due to which water is dripping from the hospital building. It is hoped that after the election of Mayor Karachi, the budget will be fully provided to the hospital because medical facilities are in the third essential service. He said that it has happened in the past that someone stole the ventilator pipe in the hospital due to which the condition of some patients became critical, but we saved the lives of these patients by taking timely measures. Unknown persons enter the wards by breaking the locks, which have been reported to the police, the police also arrests the accused, but after a few days, the person is roaming around the hospital after taking bail.
