An increase in gas prices for consumers across the country was approved.
The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has approved the rate hike for Sui Southern and Sui Northern.
OGRA has approved an average increase in gas price of 50% for Sui Northern and 45% for Sui Southern.
The average price of gas for Sui Northern was Rs 415 while for Sui Southern it was Rs 417 and 23 paise per mmbtu increase was approved.
OGRA has approved fixing the average price of 1 thousand 238 rupees 68 paise on needle northern while the average price on needle southern is 1 thousand 350 mmbtu.
The recent increase in gas prices by Ogra will be applied from July 1, 2023, while the final decision on the increase in gas prices will be taken by the federal government.
According to the law, the final decision regarding the increase in gas prices must be taken within 45 days.
According to the sources, in case of increasing the gas prices, the federal government will have to give subsidy.
