Karachi: Due to the ongoing conflict between the President’s House and the Federal Ministry of Education on the issue of the Federal Urdu University, the salaries of the employees have stopped due to the non-appointment of the vice chancellor of the university.

The assignment account of the university does not have the required funds for payment of salaries and it was not possible to transfer funds from other accounts due to the absence of a vice chancellor in the university, official sources of Urdu University have confirmed that the salaries have stopped.

It should be noted that the monthly “payroll” of Urdu University is more than 170 million rupees, of which 100 million is paid for both Karachi campuses, 40 million Islamabad campus, 28 million pension and 7 million contract employees.

In addition, around Rs 25 million is paid for the house sale, the amount transferred by HEC to the university’s assignment account is used to directly pay salaries, but currently 50% of the required amount is in the assignment account. Also does not exist from which salaries can be released.

It should be remembered that before Eid-ul-Fitr, salary was released to the university employees as Eid advance salary on April 19, but now the May salary cannot be released because the approval of the vice-chancellor of the university is required to withdraw money from other accounts. But there is no vice chancellor of the university for almost three months.

The last or former vice-chancellor Dr. Ziauddin was dismissed by the Ministry of Education through a letter saying that in case of refusal of NED University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Sarosh Lodhi as per the decision of the university senate, Dr. Ziauddin He could work in this position for two more months, so he was removed from the position after the completion of two months.
University sources say that now this issue can be resolved only by HEC transferring more funds to the assignment account or appointing a vice chancellor.
On the other hand, the emergency committee of the Senate disagreed with this decision of the Ministry of Education and while issuing the minutes of a meeting held by it, said that the minutes of the meeting of the Senate have been issued contrary to the decisions.

In the case of Dr. Sarosh Lodhi’s refusal, the Senate had decided to retain Dr. Ziauddin in the position until the appointment of the permanent vice-chancellor, but the decision did not mention the two-month period, however, the period was given in Rodad, which is against the decision. Is.
