Filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia explains why he cast Vivek Oberoi in the lead role in ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’ despite criticism and boycotts.

In a recent interview, Apoorva Lakhia said that she was supported by senior actors and producers to cast Vivek in the film.

It should be noted that the 2007 film ‘Shootout at Lokhandwala’, based on a true story, proved to be a hit where Vivek Oberoi also won the Best Villain Award at the IIFA Awards.

During one of his interviews, filmmaker Apoorva Lakhia said, “When I cast Vivek for the film, many producers called me and said to remove Vivek from the film or we will not work with you.”

He said that he had already made a promise to Vivek Oberoi, so how could he go back after making a promise to someone?

Apoorva Lakhia said that in this difficult time, senior actors Sanjay Dutt, Sunil Shetty along with film writer Sanjay Gupta also supported Vivek in the film.

He said that when these people were supporting me, I decided that after receiving this support, what to think about the future of the film? If the film becomes a hit, those who are leaving me will come back.

The filmmaker added that Vivek is a good actor, but whatever he did in the past he shouldn’t have done, but that doesn’t mean he’s not talented, I only give him credit for his acting skills. I saw it and took it in the movie.

It should be noted that Vivek Oberoi has already expressed that there is a lobby in India’s Hindi film industry that has always tried to keep him out of films.

He also said that after falling prey to this lobby, he sat at home for months for his next film.
