Madrid: Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has called on King Philip to hold early elections, announcing the dissolution of parliament after his party’s defeat in local and regional elections.
According to the World News Agency, the Prime Minister of Spain said in a televised address to the nation that the King of the country, Philip VI, has been informed of the decision to dissolve the Parliament.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has asked King Philip to confirm his decision to dissolve parliament and hold new elections on July 23.
The Prime Minister of Spain added that the decision to dissolve the Parliament was made after the defeat of his party in the elections held yesterday.
It should be noted that after the local elections, the conservative People’s Party and the far-right party Vox have defeated the ruling party in the provincial elections as well.
Earlier, the Prime Minister of Spain suggested that elections be held in December this year and said that during this time he would complete his team, but the local elections forced him to change his strategy.
