Karachi: The Sindh High Court rejected the petition against the disqualification of the General Counsel of the People’s Party by the Election Commission.
A two-member bench headed by Chief Justice Sindh High Court Justice Ahmed Ali Shaikh heard a petition against the disqualification of the General Counsel of the People’s Party by the Election Commission.
The lawyer of the petitioner Mohammad Azhar stated that my client Akhtar was elected General Councilor from ward 2 of Akhtar Colony Union Committee No. 6. The candidate of the opposition party challenged the victory in the Election Commission and justified that the vote of my client was not registered in this constituency.
The petitioner said that the Election Commission has disqualified me on the basis that I have a voter certificate which shows that the petitioner is a voter of this constituency, the Election Commission has no jurisdiction to hear such a petition. And decide.
Usman Farooq advocate stated that the Election Commission had disqualified the councilor of the People’s Party on the complaint of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate, the councilor of the People’s Party was not a voter of the constituency.
The Law Officer of the Election Commission stated that at the time of nomination papers and scrutiny, the applicant was not included in the voter list of this constituency.
The court rejected the petition filed against the Election Commission’s notification.
