O and A level papers on May 12 also cancelled

Karachi: In view of the ongoing situation in Pakistan, the British Council has canceled all O and A level papers to be held on Friday, May 12. The results of the examination will be given on the basis of the papers taken.

Director of Cambridge University Press and Assessment Pakistan Uzma Yusuf Country while talking to Express said that we do not want to disturb the students, so the papers have been canceled so that the teachers and students remain safe in the eyes of the country.

He said that the papers held in the morning and evening on Friday will not be held all over Pakistan. Due to the cancellation, average marking of the results of the papers of these subjects will now be done and the result will be released on the basis of the other papers given in the same subject.

Uzma Yusuf said that considering the situation in the country, our partner British Council along with Cambridge Examinations has decided to cancel the exam on Friday. We will continue to monitor the situation.

According to the British Council, canceling the exams on 10, 11 and 12 May was a difficult decision, but the safety and well-being of children and teachers is paramount to us. We will keep the children informed.

Apart from this, the British Council has released the formula for giving marks to the students related to the canceled examination papers in view of the current situation in Pakistan. In which the candidates have been told that none of the canceled papers will be rescheduled in the June 2023 series.

“We can assure you that Cambridge has a well-established ‘special consideration’ process for releasing results when exams are cancelled,” the British Council said in a message to students. Candidates whose exams have been canceled can still get their results if they have sat at least one eligible component and completed at least 15% of the total assessment in the June 2023 exam series. A-level candidates must sit at least one A2-level component to achieve an A-level result.
