Selfies can be helpful to commemorate special moments

Tübingen: A study has found that selfies can help make occasions more memorable and capture the emotions of specific moments compared to regular photos.

According to the team of researchers, when we use the ‘first-person’ photography method, we photograph the scene from our own perspective, mainly because we want to document a material experience.

Study lead author Zachary Niess, from the University of Tübingen, said that while the act of selfies is sometimes ridiculed, the act of taking a selfie has the potential to remind people of their past experiences. Connecting can help.

Lisa Libby, professor of psychology at Ohio State University, said that your presence in selfies can document the meaning of the moment.

For the study, researchers conducted six experiments involving 2,113 participants.

In one of these experiments, participants were asked to imagine a scenario in which they would like to take a picture and describe the importance and meaning of the occasion.

The researchers said that according to the participants, the images in which they also reflected themselves were more meaningful.
