Islamabad: The Supreme Court has sought a progress report from the Election Commission regarding the release of funds by the government for the elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to Express News, the Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission for a progress report, in which it has been directed to inform about the receipt of funds or not regarding the elections of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The Registrar Office of the Supreme Court has issued a notice to the Election Commission to submit the answer by morning.

It should be noted that the Supreme Court had ordered the transfer of funds for the Punjab VKP elections till April 27.
Earlier, in the National Assembly session presided over by Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf, the members again rejected the motion to give funds for elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It should be noted that the Supreme Court of Pakistan has directed to hold elections in Punjab on May 14 and release funds to the government. In this regard, a three-member bench of the Supreme Court also heard the case on Wednesday.
