FIA seizes crores worth of sugar and urea stockpiled for smuggling

Islamabad: The FBI’s Customs Intelligence team seized sacks of sugar and urea worth crores of rupees stored in the warehouse of a flour mill in Nushki district of Baluchistan and sealed the warehouse.

After the government banned transportation of notified commodities containing wheat, flour, sugar and urea across the border areas, the Customs Department of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) bordered Afghanistan, India and Iran. Anti-smuggling operations have been intensified in the border areas.

According to Customs officials, the Directorate General of Customs Intelligence team recovered sugar and urea fertilizer worth more than six crore rupees stored in the warehouse of the flour mill.

According to officials, the Customs Intelligence Department had received information from reliable sources that a large quantity of sugar and urea was stored in the warehouse of a flour mill located in Nushki area, which would be smuggled abroad.

The Customs Intelligence Department formed a special team consisting of Deputy Director Customs Intelligence, Assistant Director and other staff who, after confirming the information and obtaining evidence, along with law enforcement agencies, raided a flour mill in Nushki. Export sugar and urea fertilizer.

Customs officials say that 10 thousand sacks of sugar and 12 hundred sacks of urea are included in the goods seized from the warehouse, worth Rs 6 crore.

According to officials, the godown has been sealed and handed over to local administration, police and FC.
