Jamia Urdu has fallen victim to the worst financial and administrative crisis

Karachi: Jamia Urdu faced the worst financial and administrative crisis due to the ongoing rift and differences between the Higher Education Commission and the management of Urdu University.

According to Express News, due to serious differences between the Higher Education Commission and the administration of Urdu University, Jamia has suffered from the worst financial and administrative crisis.

The present Acting Administration of the University has started recruiting the teachers who were promoted to the post of Assistant Professor 7 months ago and directly occupying the post by giving junior letters to them to fill the vacancy in the faculty. It can be done but still these teachers are deprived of their salaries while recently 73 lectures have also been joined and they are not being paid.

It is said that the recruitment of lecturers was given to two senior teachers of the university to deal with the pending case of promotion to the post of professor.

On the other hand, the university is facing the worst financial crisis along with the administration and salaries are not being paid as usual for three months, sometimes half salary is given between the beginning of the month and half of the month and sometimes the work is being done by giving basic pay.

According to university sources, it is facing a loss of around Rs 4 crore per month, which even the Federal HEC is unwilling to meet.

Chairman Higher Education Commission, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, said in this regard, “The selection board of lecturers and assistant professors was controversial and this matter was still in the inquiry stage, during which the appointment letters were given to the teachers, so the teachers who have been appointed We will not give the money for the salaries, the university should manage them by itself.

Talking to “Express”, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed said that HEC had asked the university administration for the proceedings of the relevant section boards, but when we received it, it seemed that the administration had instead of the minutes of the selection board’s proceedings. The child’s handwritten diary has been sent to us in which everything is written in pen. It is not acceptable. Now our team will come to Karachi and check it ourselves.

It should be noted that the advertisement of the selection board for these two positions, which have been declared as relevant and controversial, is several years old and the board was held about two years ago, in which many complaints were revealed in the test paper and interviews.

It is noteworthy that the Assistant Professor’s selection board qualified lecturers of Jamia Urdu are also drawing the salary of grade 18 lecturers despite holding this position and due to financial crisis they are also getting new grade salaries. have not been found while the teachers who have been directly appointed to this position have not been paid their salary in these six months, only in the beginning of December 1 lakh 10 thousand rupees have been transferred to their account while their six months The salary is several lakhs of rupees.

On the other hand, the acting vice chancellor of the university, Prof. Dr. Ziauddin, has said about the appointment of teachers to the position of assistant professor and now lecturer six months ago after the selection board, “A member of the university’s senate insisted on this issue regularly and He said that after the Senate has decided on the appointments in this regard, then why are these teachers not given appointment letters after which we gave joining to these teachers. When the matter came up, he said that the selection board’s approval should be sent to us, but it was not said anywhere that the matter should be put on hold for now.

To a question, he said that what Chairman HEC is calling a children’s diary, the minutes of the selection board are written in the same way in every university because the experts immediately give their marks and comments which are noted by hand.

The Vice-Chancellor said that the HEC team has come to Karachi and investigated the records of both the selection boards of Urdu University.

It should be noted that the President Dr. Arif Ali is the chancellor of this university and this university established in the name of the national language has not had a permanent administrative head for the last two years. His salary was fixed at 11 lakh rupees per month compared to other vice chancellors, but he came to Karachi for a few days and then went back to Canada on the pretext of holidays and from there started a unique series of running the university online. , on which the Federal Ministry of Education took action, Dr. Athar Atta had to resign.

Earlier, the vice-chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University had the charge of the vice-chancellor of Urdu University and the acting head of the university is also in charge of the search committee for the permanent vice-chancellor of the university. They did not participate in the committee meeting because their nominations were not approved by the university senate, due to which the search committee meeting could not be held again.

On the other hand, Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ziauddin says that “due to the completion of the term of most of the members of the University Senate, the Senate has also been dissolved. The new names have been sent to the President’s House through the Ministry of Education for approval. have not come 4 nominations have been sent in July and 6 in November, but due to lack of approval, the work of the university is not progressing.

It should be noted that the monthly expenditure of the three campuses of Jamia Urdu, including Karachi, is 18 crore rupees per month, out of which 13.5 crore rupees are spent on salaries. 22 lakh rupees are being spent in the fund while 3 crore rupees are being spent on pension and the university is facing a monthly loss of 4 crore rupees which is increasing day by day.
