Nepra has given approval to K Electric to reduce the price of electricity by Rs 10 80 paisa per unit, which will give relief of more than Rs 12 billion 71 crore to the consumers of Karachi.
Regarding the adjustment of monthly fuel charges of K Electric, a public hearing was held at Nepra headquarters under the chairmanship of Chairman Nepra Engineer Tauseef H. Farooqui.
K Electric had submitted a request for reduction of Rs 10 26 paise per unit under FCA, but as per analysis of Nepra’s data, the reduction under November FCA comes to Rs 10 80 paise per unit.
Earlier, the November FCA was charged to consumers at Rs 7.43 paise per unit reduction which was only for one month. FCA for December will be charged Rs 3.37 paisa per unit less than November.
According to Nepra, the reduction will be applicable for one month only, while it will not be applicable to lifeline consumers, household consumers up to 300 units, agricultural consumers and electric vehicle four-stations.
The authority will issue its detailed decision after further scrutiny of the data.
