Karachi: The water board reform administration has decided to install electromagnetic meters in hydrants as well as in industries and factories to remedy the loss in recovery.
After the revelation of alleged alteration of water meters supplied to hundreds of factories, textile, dyeing, ceramic and other mills in the industrial zone and average billing through Code Nine, the administration of Water Board has issued a government regulation in the name of Code Nine (CODE-9). The administration has decided to install electromagnetic meters at hydrants as well as at all industries, mills and factories to redress those who have caused financial loss to the water board for recovery.
The officers posted in the RRG (Revenue) department and its meter division are allegedly busy causing losses of several crores to the water board every month. The reform team, after carefully reviewing the situation, has decided to dismantle the powerful system established in the meter division after the bulk revenue department.
According to highly reliable sources, the water board’s reform administration has been mobilized to stop the organized robbery of water supply and recovery for many years. Sources say that in this regard, the system that gives bills of a few lakhs is being tightened by using water worth crores.
According to the sources, with the alleged connivance of the officers of the RRG (Revenue) Department and Meter Division of the Water Board, meters were installed at hundreds of industries, textile mills, dyeing, and ceramic mills in Karachi and other large bulk consumers of the Water Board. The looting of crores of rupees per month is going on through alleged serious forgery in Reading.
Sources have revealed that meters are lying broken in several industries, which have not been repaired due to criminal negligence, and the officers are busy injecting crores of rupees into the government treasury every month by billing the bulk consumers who use water indiscriminately. are
Sources say that the bill of a few lakhs is being collected from the mill owners who use crores of water. Sources say that the network established in meter division industries has become highly organized for which the water board’s reform administration is under political pressure. Strict measures will have to be taken without coming.
In this regard, the sources further say that the water board authorities have decided to install electromagnetic meters in industries and factories like hydrants, which has caused a lot of confusion in the system of the revenue department and meter division.
It should be noted that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had started an investigation against the officials of Revenue Department (RRG) and Meter Division Industry a few months ago, but the investigation has been delayed by using alleged political influence.
