Mumbai: In India, 13 people were killed and 29 injured after the passenger train lost control of the driver and plunged into a ditch on the highway to Mumbai.
According to Indian media, a bus carrying 42 passengers from Pune to Mumbai fell into a 300-feet deep ditch while taking a dangerous turn at the Ghat Pahari section of the highway.
The bus was carrying members of a musical group who had gone to attend a function in Pune and met with an accident on their way back.
The residents of the nearby area with their help pulled out the passengers from the bus and shifted them to the hospital. 16 deaths have been confirmed, including a 3-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
The number of injured is 29, out of which 4 are in critical condition, and the number of casualties is expected to increase. The injured include 6 children.
Police say that the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
