The ruling coalition rejected the establishment of a larger bench on the Supreme Court Procedure Bill

Islamabad: The ruling coalition rejected the bench constituted by the Supreme Court on the Supreme Court Procedure Bill.

According to the joint declaration issued by the political parties involved in the government, the ruling parties have appointed the controversial bench before the completion of the legislative process regarding the Supreme Court Procedure and Practice Bill 2023 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The motion to set it up for hearing has been rejected.

In their joint statement on Thursday, the ruling parties said that such a move has never been seen before in the history of Pakistan and the court. This is tantamount to destroying the credibility of the highest court of the country and making the constitutional process of justice meaningless. This bench itself is a testament to the division of the Supreme Court, which once again supports the earlier stated position of the ruling parties.

It has been further stated in the declaration that the honorable judges of the Supreme Court have openly expressed their objections to ‘one-me-show’, biased and dictatorial behavior and formation of special benches in their decisions. With the formation of the 8-member controversial bench, the facts stated in the judgments of these respected judges of the Supreme Court have come out more clearly.

The statement further said that Pakistan is a federation. Ignoring this fact and not adding any judge from the two smaller provinces i.e. Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the bench is also sad. The ruling parties call this move an attack on the parliament and its authority, which will be strongly resisted.

According to the statement of the coalition parties, the formation of the controversial bench in a hurry and the appointment of this bill for hearing, apart from the intention and intention, the upcoming decision is also clearly expressed, which is sad and equal to the murder of justice and justice. The statement of the Barconsuls of Pakistan on the move of the Supreme Court and the formation of the controversial bench is a clear proof that this move is not only against justice and fairness but also against the prevailing judicial procedure and established principles.

It has been clarified in the joint statement that on October 12, 2019, the All Pakistan Lawyers Convention in Lahore passed a resolution and demanded the parliament to pass this law. Acting on this demand of the lawyers’ community across the country, the Parliament passed the relevant law. Every attempt to take away the authority of the Parliament and interfere in its constitutional scope will be vigorously resisted. There will be no compromise on the authority of the Parliament in the light of the Constitution of Pakistan.
