Karachi: With the efforts of the National Curriculum Council (NCC) Secretariat, a consensus has been reached on the syllabus for class IX to XII.
The National Curriculum Council has crossed a historic milestone, provincial and territorial representatives from across the country have unanimously signed the National Curriculum for Class IX to XII. This is the first time in Pakistan’s history that a core curriculum has been finalized for the entire country, covering early childhood education and compulsory subjects from grades 1 to 12.
Director NCC Dr. Maryam Chaghtai expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the provincial focal persons, including Aamir Riaz (Punjab), Zulfiqar Khan (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa), Pyaro Khan Saharan ( Sindh), Muhammad Saeed (Balochistan), Raja Muhammad Naseer Khan (Azad Jammu and Kashmir), Faizullah Lone (Gilgit-Baltistan) and Khawaja Mazhar-ul-Haq (South Punjab).
This consensus was reached at the successful conclusion of the third inter-provincial curriculum workshop. Where the syllabus of all basic subjects of grades 9 to 12 including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, English, Urdu, Islamiat, Pakistan Studies and Computer Science was finalized.
To ensure that the curriculum meets the needs of all students and stakeholders, Federal Minister for Education and Vocational Training Rana Tanveer Hussain visited the NCC Secretariat, where he took a detailed review of the progress and each Personal detailed discussion with official provincial/territorial experts in the committee for the subject.
The NCC Secretariat organized a wide range of programs across the country including inter-provincial curriculum workshops and regional workshops in Sindh, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan to solicit feedback from all parts of Pakistan. .
Additionally, a feedback portal on the NCC website also provided for wider public feedback. Representatives of the public and private sectors, non-profit organizations and madrasas were also included in the feedback process, ensuring a common approach to curriculum reform. Reflects to develop a transparent and comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs and aspirations of all students across Pakistan. This is an important step towards a brighter future for all the children of the country. The provincial and regional education experts thanked the National Curriculum Council and the Ministry of Federal Education and expressed hope that this national curriculum will be helpful in providing modern education to the students of the country.
