Oxford: Excess weight itself is the cause of dozens of diseases, and now a study has shown that losing weight has good effects on the heart and reduces the risk of type 2 diabetes. These effects persist for the next five years regardless of weight gain.

It is common to regain weight after losing weight for some time. This is why people don’t consciously try to lose weight. But Susan A. Jebb, a professor of nutrition at the University of Oxford, said that even if you gain some weight after losing it, the benefits will last.

According to Susan, weight loss can maintain cardiovascular health and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes for the next five years, so the medical benefits of weight loss are undeniable. Susan and her colleagues have published their research in the research journal Circulation Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes.

Dr. Susan and her colleagues carefully reviewed 124 studies involving 50,000 people with an average age of 51. Each individual was followed up after 28 months. It examined the physical symptoms (biomarkers) of heart disease and diabetes in participants after losing weight.

Experts compared people who weighed 2 to 5 kg with others and found that they had lower cholesterol, lower blood pressure and lower HbA1c levels. In addition, cardiovascular disease biomarkers were also observed to be low.

Experts noted that some people regained weight during this period, but the benefits of weight loss were clear.
