Karachi: Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has said that people have to wake up against inflation, without protesting, the problems will not be reduced.
While giving a press conference at Noor Haq Institute, Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that the government has increased the price of petrol and by threatening us in the name of IMF, an environment of more inflation is being created. He said that the rulers do not reduce their luxury, they put the burden of inflation on the people. They all run the economy with the same policies, no change.
He said that the educated elite has made everyone ignorant. Their own electricity is free and the electricity bill for the nation increases. National Savings Schemes have such a large budget, we can stand on our feet if the tax is deducted from it. There should be an inquiry as to how much money is lying in which officer’s house. The IMF does not ask that you reduce your luxury. Other than defense, the military is also included in the expenditure.
Amir Jamaat-e-Islami said that the rulers hide each other’s corruption, but now the people have to wake up and unite. Sirajul Haque has started a movement against inflation. Problems will not be reduced without protest. Now the IMF government will stay in Pakistan for 9 days. How can a laborer live on a salary of 18,000?
Talking about the delay in local body elections and its results in Karachi, he said that 15 days have passed, no results have come yet. There are 25 to 30 seats, for which we will also go to court. We will go further to protect our vote. The ROs issued their own results, but still we succeeded.
Hafiz Naeemur Rahman said that by winning the by-election, we will come first in terms of seats. The government and its allies want to install officers of their choice. Our case in the Election Commission will be in our favor. As far as votes are concerned, we are far ahead of the ruling party. We want this process to be expedited.
He said that the government is appointing its representatives in local government works. I will tell them to wait for now. People’s money should be spent on people. We are creating a task force at all levels, which will work at all levels. At this time, corruption in the projects is on the rise. The mayor will be from Jamaat-e-Islami.
Amir Jamaat said that Jamaat-e-Islami does not want to fight with anyone. Officers in institutions should correct their qiblah. We want to take everyone together. Our hatred is not against any person, but against corruption. The process of census is starting, it is being said that people can register themselves online, those who are here should be counted here.
Hafiz Naeem further said that the Sindh government should amend the constitution and give powers to the mayor. The promises made during the sit-in should also be fulfilled. Every citizen should have the right in relation to the census to check for himself whether he has been counted or not. The principle of census is also that diplomats should also be counted. Our elected representatives will also monitor the census.
He said that if anyone is bought, he will expose it fully. No one can buy the selected candidate of Jamaat-e-Islami. The MQM wanted to escape from the municipal elections till the last moment.
