DHA has decided to construct a storm water drainage system due to the emergency situation arising from the abnormal rains in monsoon 2020 and 2022. According to the DHA administration, the drainage project is on its way towards completion. The project was started in September last year. In the 74 km long project, a one and a half meter deep and two and a half meter wide storm drain will pass under the tarmac road. It may take a while.

Through this project, the problem of water collected at Khayaban Nishat, Bukhari, Phase 4 and other places will be completely solved. After the hydrography of this project, it has been designed by experts, and due to the special technical support of NICE Pak and NLC, this previous drainage water The project is 4 times larger than the system of , in which 100 years of rainfall data has been stored, when the storm water drainage project will be fully operational, they will definitely get relief from the previous bitter experiences.

According to the DHA spokesperson, the project has been divided into two different phases, the first phase is based on 49 km, in phase one, priority has been given to those areas, which are heavily affected during the monsoon rains of 2020 and 2022, drainage. During this project, the shattering of the main drain is going on there while the roofs of the link and interceptors and other materials are being prepared for the batching plant.

The spokesman said that a laboratory has also been set up by the consultant, in which the raw material is checked and its quality is checked. According to DHA, there are several challenges faced during the execution of the project, including landslides during top excavation, relocation of potable water lines, underground utility services lines by K Electric and Sui Southern Company. Patient and highly technical steps are being taken to relocate.

He said that due to the breakdown of old sewage lines and clean drinking water lines, the process of replacement with new lines is also going on at lightning speed. Despite all these challenges, DHA is determined. Due to the extreme increase in prices, there were negative effects on the ongoing works, however, this issue has been controlled to a great extent, at this time there is a 15-day reserve and other materials. There are already 2 outfalls on the sea and 2 outfalls on the Mahmudabad canal for water discharge, but now under the mentioned project, 6 more outfalls are being constructed at these two places, which will be equipped with very powerful pumps. Which will work through sensors and will transfer the rain water very fast to Mahmoodabad and sea.

According to the DHA spokesperson, the ongoing work in the first phase will be completed before the next monsoon so that the residents of the areas affected by the emergency rains in the past years do not have to go through the same situation again. In order for the project to be completed on time, the residents are requested to cooperate with DHA.

According to the spokesman, a helpline and teams have been formed in this regard for the guidance of residents and citizens, which will be present at all times to resolve any complaint. The first phase of the project will be completed on June 30.

It should be noted that after the unusual rains in 2007, the DHA administration started working on this drainage project, however, this project was put on the back burner after the objections of some local residents. Later, the completion of this project was declared inevitable.
