Islamabad: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has disclosed that the total interim tax collections during the first 9 months of the current financial year were Rs 304 billion less than the target.

FBR sources told “Express” that during the first 9 months (July to March) of the current fiscal year 2022-23, a total of 5156 billion rupees have been collected.

Although this amount is 780.4 billion rupees more than the tax collections of 4375 billion rupees achieved in the same period of fiscal year 2021-22, it is 304 billion rupees less than the revised target of tax collections of 5460 billion rupees set for the first 9 months of the current fiscal year. Is.

Sources say that FBR’s interim tax collections in the month of March have been Rs 663 billion, while the revised target for the month has been set at Rs 720 billion after implementing new taxes under terms agreed with the IMF. was done. In this way, tax collections have been less than the target of 64 billion rupees in March.

However, some reduction in the revenue shortfall is expected when the final figures of tax collections are received in the next few days.
