Ecuador: International experts have discovered two new plants similar to the wedge plant that attract insects and turn them into nests. Thus the number of carnivorous plants has increased to 115.
Ecuadorian, German and American experts have jointly discovered two new plants on the edges of which small flies and insects stick in and turn them into nests. These new plants belong to the genus Bitterworts and belong to the genus Pangiocula.
Flowering plants are quickly digested by chewing insects. These plants are found in the Andes mountains from Ecuador and can also be seen on the Peruvian border. However, until now the attention of experts was not directed towards this.
These are omnivorous carnivorous plants that target small insects and suck nutrients from them. One of them has been named as Pinguicula jimburensis and the other as Pinguicula ombrophila. One plant has been found near a vertical cliff at an altitude of 3400 meters and another plant has been discovered at an altitude of 2900 meters.
